Imagine Your Goals projects

16 football clubs are running mental health projects as part of our Imagine Your Goals programme.  Here is a list of the clubs involved and what they're doing. Contact them to get involved!

Arsenal in the Community

Arsenal’s project provides football sessions and other activities including running, walks, gym sessions, hockey and kayaking. Participants will be offered training opportunities to gain a coaching qualification or a Foundation Degree in Community Sports.

Birmingham City FC Community Trust

This project focuses on football and other physical activity and offers workshops on mental health awareness, managing stress and confidence building.

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust

The Blackburn Rovers project is establishing Boys2Men Clubs for 16 – 19 year olds with sessions focussing on football, cricket, cycling, and a green gym.

Bolton Wanderers Football in the Community

Bolton Wanderers will be providing football and aerobic sessions and hold a 5 a side football league. They also run study support sessions on match days that focus on building confidence using techniques such as theatre productions and film making.

Chelsea Football Club

Chelsea’s football sessions will lead up to a cup tournament organised around World Mental Health week and a match day presentation in October. Some participants will also have the opportunity to gain an accredited FA Level One course on coaching.

Everton in the Community

Everton’s project will be using its funding to expand its existing Imagine Your Goals Programme with longer and additional football sessions across Liverpool. They will also be holding a Level One coaching course at Goodison Park and a ‘Sport Relief Cup’, in March to coincide with Time to Change’s TV campaign.

Fulham Football Club Foundation

Fulham’s activities include a football, basketball and tennis programme. Participants can also take part in the Community Champions volunteering project and Fulham FC Foundation work experience initiative.

Hull City Football Club – Tigers Sport & Education Trust

This project offers a range of football related activity including a monthly 6 a-side Mental Health Football League. The project runs an education class around health, wellbeing and mental health issues open to all participants of the football activity sessions.

Liverpool FC

Liverpool FC provides courses focusing on three key elements to maintain positive lifestyle change: increasing physical activity levels, maintaining a positive mind set and raising awareness of diet and nutrition. The project works with Mersey Care and Age Concern (with a focus on older people).

Manchester City in the Community

City in the Community holds three football sessions a week plus a weekly health walk in green spaces. Competitions will be held every 6 weeks, plus access to regional mental health competitive events.

Manchester United Foundation

 

The Manchester United Foundation project provides football coaching sessions and a movement programme followed by social activities including relaxation walks and gym activity. They will also be offering anti-smoking and health workshops and Junior Football Organiser courses.

Pompey Sports and Education Foundation

Pompey provides sessions for young people which will focus on football and other physical activity. The project also involves other practical activity such as stadium visits, art and ceramic sessions, and healthy lifestyle workshops.

The Stoke City FC Wellbeing project involves gym-based activities working in partnership with Total Fitness with a physical activity improvement plan for each participant.

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation – The All 4 One Project

The ‘All 4 One’ project includes physical activity with football and fitness sessions and football competitions. It also provides mentoring/buddy training, presentation skills and work skills training - to allow participants to become volunteers and potentially gain employment.

Wigan Athletic Community Trust

Wigan Athletic delivers football coaching sessions each week for men and women with the opportunity to take part in the North West Mental Health League. The project will also deliver two social group forum events per month at the DW stadium and other locations.
