Time to Change newsletter

Since the last, Time to Change teams, supporters and ambassadors have been busy bringing our messages to life in communities across England

Thousands of people Get Moving on World Mental Health Day.

Time to Change got 27,000 people active to challenge stigma during Get Moving week 2009 (3-11 October) at events all over the country. Events were diverse, ranging from yoga, caving and historical walks to conservation, football tournaments, wellbeing festivals and much more.

Time to Challenge gets to work

We launch a new brand element of our Time to Challenge project aimed at confronting the stigma and discrimination faced by people with experience of mental health problems in the workplace.

New-Horizons  

Change is on the horizon.

On 7 December 2009 the government launched New Horizons, a new cross-governmental strategy into how mental health and mental wellbeing can be incorporated into every aspect of our daily lives.

It will tackle depression for people of all ages; work to reduce suicides; improve outreach to help excluded groups access support; and tackle the stigma around mental illness.

A growing international movement

Stigma and discrimination are sadly common experiences for people with mental health problems across the world.

Time to Change is based on evidence from programmes in New Zealand and Scotland, and now we are able to share what we have learnt as we have researched and developed our work with new campaigns being set up in other countries. We have been helping to inform campaigns in Denmark and Ireland, as well as Canada and the Netherlands

Individuals as well as organisations have been taking the initiative and running Get Moving events
