Campaigning can mean lots of different things. The type of campaigning that Time to Change Champions do is "social contact" - when someone with experience of a mental health problem shares this with someone who doesn't have this experience.
This is because our goal is to change how people think and act about mental health, so we need to talk to the people who might not know about mental health already or might have negative attitudes. The best thing we can do as people with lived experience is let other people get to know us and show them that we are people, just like them, who happen to have a mental health problem.
We've found that doing social contact activities makes a massive difference to the people who come along. Champions also do social contact in their everyday life, bringing their experience into the conversation with people around them. This can make an even bigger difference to how people see mental health who already know you but didn't know you had a mental health problem.
