We're looking for new Young Champions!

Happy Mental Health Awareness Week 2018!

We are contacting you today because we are recruiting Young Champions and we hope you will share this opportunity with the young people in your networks.

Successful applicants will join an 18 month programme of training and support to share their experiences and campaign about mental health.

We are looking for young people living in England who:

  • Are aged 16 - 25 with personal experience of mental health problems.
  • Want to volunteer as part of England's largest social movement to ensure that this generation can be more open about mental health problems than any before.
  • Want to use their experiences to speak out to make sure no young person is made to feel isolated or ashamed becasue of their mental health problem.
  • Want to attend training, be part of local campaign groups and meet other passionate, like-minded young people.

We especially encourage applicants from groups which are less represented in mental health campaigns, such as people who identify as LGBT+, people from BAME communities, people who are severely affected by mental health problems, young men, people from faith groups, disabled people and young people from less advantaged socio-economic backgrounds. We want everybody with a mental health problem to be able to live a life free of fear.

More information can be found at and applications are open until 5pm on Monday 28th May.

"Being a Young Champion has been an amazing experience, it's given me the confidence and tools to challenge mental health stigma. The opportunity to share my story in schools and at events has been incredible." Mary, member of #teamyoungchampions 2016 cohort

Please do share this great opportunity with the young people in your networks today. Feel free to contact with any questions.

Thank you

Joss and the Children and Young People's Team at Time to Change
