Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about StoryCamp. If you'd like to know more about something not on this list, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org
What is StoryCamp?
StoryCamp is an online course for people with lived experience of a mental health condition, who would like to improve their storytelling skills and help us change attitudes around mental health. It will run for three months, between June – August 2020. We hope participants will feel confident to continue telling their mental health story and challenging stigma after StoryCamp.
How do I take part?
You can sign up here to receive the StoryCamp emails and an invite to the Facebook group. You should receive the first email on 1 June. You might want to set up a social media channel or blog for your work, or just share it on your personal accounts or the StoryCamp group. We'll be sharing info on how to set up a new blog or social channel in week 1, if you need some help with this.
Do I have to pay?
StoryCamp is completely free to join.
Can I join after 1 June?
Yes – you’ll be able to sign up to StoryCamp throughout the event. However, we recommend getting involved earlier so you don’t miss anything and can make the most of the event. StoryCamp runs until the end of August 2020.
Do I have to take part through the whole course?
We would love for you to take part as much as you can to get the most out of StoryCamp, but it's crucial for you to know that it's not compulsory - you shouldn't feel the need to take part in every challenge if you're not feeling well, you have other commitments or the course is taking you outside your comfort zone.
You’re always welcome to join us again later on, or if you’ve decided it’s not for you, you can unsubscribe through the link in your latest StoryCamp email.
Do I have to take part in the Facebook group?
We would recommend joining the group to get the most out of the course, as we’ll be sharing extra content and inviting people to share their stories. However we understand not everyone wants or is able to use Facebook, so we’ll be delivering the main content through the fortnightly emails. You can still ask questions and share your work with us by emailing email@example.com
Please note, the Facebook group is open to people who are 18 or over only.
How do you moderate the Facebook group?
You can see our moderation and community guidelines here. We aim to make the group as welcoming as possible and to keep things on topic e.g. around storytelling. We only accept group members who have signed up to StoryCamp through email. If you have any concerns, please report posts or users to the admin on the group, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a link to the post. Please note we will mostly be moderating between 9am – 6pm, and working our usual digital roles as well, so we may not be able to respond immediately.
