About this pledge
Many students experience mental health or wellbeing issues at some point in their time at university. Goldsmiths College is currently acknowledging Mental Health Awareness Week, from 13th to 19th May, with a series of events. As well as manning an information table all week from 12 to 2pm in the college café, other events include a movie night on Thursday 16th May, an exam stress workshop and a staff information session about eating disorders. During this week Goldsmiths will make a pledge of commitment to taking action in terms of supporting students with mental health. Proposed actions include: - To use Goldsmiths Mental Health Forum to ensure mental health issues remain on the agenda at the college - Formulate a Mental Health Strategy for Goldsmiths - this is work in progress and includes plans to provide training for Senior Tutors, Resident Advisers, implement an incident log for crisis situations and also explore ways to engage students in existing support services in the uni - Explore and implement ways to ensure a coordinated approach is taken in crisis situations - Continue promotion of mental health awareness through events such as Mental Health Awareness Week.
