About this pledge
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) sets, upholds and advances the educational, ethical and clinical standards of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses. The RCVS is committed to supporting and improving wellbeing with the sector, which sadly has high levels of mental ill health and suicide compared to the general population. We launched our Mind Matters Initiative in 2015 to help address these issues through a programme of education, anti-stigma campaigns and collaborative working with other organisations.
While working to improve wellbeing within the profession, we recognise the importance of looking after the mental health and wellbeing of our own staff team here at Belgravia House. We have a wellbeing group that meets quarterly and have reviewed our policies and procedures as well as the support mechanisms in place for those who are struggling. We have engaged with the Great Place to Work scheme for five years in a row and last year were delighted to be named as a Centre of Excellent in Wellbeing. However, we recognise that there is always more that can be done, and we look forward to working with Mind to help identify areas where we can push ourselves even further in this vitally important area.
We are committed to doing all we can to create a happy, thriving and well-supported team and are proud to demonstrate this commitment by signing the Time to Change Employers Pledge.
