Stigma is the primary reason those in need don't reach out for help. When we fight stigma, we give them the courage to do so, to improve their lives, to take back their own power. It's our first priority, to tell our own stories, to educate, to work with the political system to help break down the barriers to mental health care and services. But we need your help - join the movement today!
I will be honest and try not to be ashamed anymore. My tendency to severe depression and anxiety have stopped me from achieving what was expected of me. I will be proud of myself for surviving a life threatening illness. I will admit that even though I was unable to do all that was expected of me academically is not as important as surviving years of self harm and suicide attempts. I will be proud of myself for still being alive and not giving up xxx
I want to raise awareness of mental health illness, I have suffered for years on and off with severe depression & anxiety and have come across prejudice from employers, family, friends and medical professionals.
The taboo of mental illness has to stop and be treated like any other health problem!
I pledge, from my entire heart and soul,to continue trying to end the unnecessary discrimination which keeps people with mental health problems in the dark,it's our time to Unite & Shine Together by saying 'It's Ok not to feel ok all of the time,we're still lovable and deserve respect from society,as we continue to respect one another here'
