You may have been handed a conversation starter at stations around London today, or you may have received one as part of a Time to Talk Day pack. There are folding instructions on the back, but to make it even easier, we've created a video guide below:

A quick look at building a conversation starter:

A longer look at building a conversation starter:

A step by step guide:

  1. Fold the conversation starter diagonally from corner to corner
  2. Open and repeat this step on the other side
  3. Flip the paper over so that it is white side up
  4. Fold each corner in on itself until you gradually have a pink square
  5. Turn the square over so the purple side is facing up
  6. Fold the corners down until you begin to see a square of numbers
  7. Fold the square in half, one way and then the other
  8. Once you have done this twice, you will have rectangle
  9. Fold the rectangle in half, one way and then the other to loosen the folds
  10. Put your thumbs and index fingers under each tab and move in and out to use the conversation starter
