The roadshow hits Leeds
Hi everyone! Here’s a quick update on what’s been going on as we tour England with our roadshows. Last weekend we were in Leeds for our very first roadshow...and what a weekend it was!
We kicked off with the training session on Friday afternoon which was held at a little arts centre just outside Leeds. I had a great afternoon finally meeting all of the lovely Leeds volunteers. A big thanks to Sarah James who wrote and delivered the training afternoon along with Christina Young. The session was a great success and gave everyone a chance to mingle and tackle any last minute nerves before the big day....as well as polishing off a delicious buffet courtesy of Rocket catering. It really geared everyone up for Saturday which flew past!
We arrived early on Saturday to find the set already being constructed. We helped put the finishing touches to the Time to Change living room before the first volunteers arrived. The weather was beautiful, we had a brilliant turn out and overall an equally positive response from the public. I found it a really inspirational day, and felt privileged to be spreading the Time to Change ethos with so many enthusiastic volunteers.
It was fab to see everyone pull together and work so well as a team. We definitely couldn’t have achieved this without the support of our Time to Change volunteers – we even recruited some extra volunteers on the day!
Our first roadshow in Leeds has definitely set a standard high for the future events. I’m already getting excited about Cambridge this weekend – especially as it’s a two day event.
As always – get in touch to find out more and get involved. Enjoy the rest of your week and if you have no weekend plans why not pop down the Town and Country Show in Cambridge? More news soon but for now, over and out!
