Natalie has been a Time to Change Champion for some time and previously attended Speak Out training as well as shadowing Regional Coordinator, Karen Machin and attending Ministry of Justice event in Manchester in May.

In May Time to Change were invited to Macclesfield College’s ‘Healthy Futures’ day to talk to students about stigma and mental health. Natalie went along and ran a stall in the entrance as well as a workshop for health and social care students at the college. The day was a great success and provided students with the opportunity to explore a range of topics outside of their education.’

Natalie wrote a short passage about the event:

It was miserable weather out today but when I arrived to the event at Macclesfield college staff and students were lovely and I had a warm welcome. I managed to start a lot of conversations about mental health and got very positive response from young people and adults.

The event went really well and I gave out lots of badges and told everyone to spread the word about the time to change campaign. Later I did a talk and asked questions about what people already knew once we had all discussed mental health and stigma. The young people were a lot more confident in talking about mental health and upbeat about passing this on and that’s what its all about.
