The Time to Change Hub in York is part of the national Time to Change campaign and locally we run in partnership with York CVS, a social action organisation, and are funded by the City of York Council.

What is Time to Change York?

We are a social movement aiming to change the way people think and act about mental health in York. Too many people with mental health problems are made to feel isolated, ashamed and worthless. We are all about challenging stigma, and negative attitudes and behaviours towards mental health through people sharing their lived experience.

How does Time to Change York work?

Our main focus is to reduce mental health stigma in the wider community of York - residents and visitors - through everyday social interactions by people with lived experience of mental health problems; our Champions.

Time to Change Champions are people with lived experience of mental health problems who campaign to end mental health discrimination in their communities. Champions are everyday people having conversations about their experience of mental health and are not volunteers, counsellors, or mental health experts or advisers. We want to create a Champions Campaign Group network in York - an opportunity to meet like-minded people to decide how to campaign together to change attitudes and behaviour, and then take action to deliver activities such as the example activities here.

Our other focus is engaging with York employers to help them to commit to change how we think and act about mental health in the workplace – get your employer involved.
