Wolverhampton Wanderers became the latest football club to back Time to Change this weekend as they pledged their support in front of 30,000 fans at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday 9 April.
Jeff Moxley, Chief Executive of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, said before the game: “Wolves Community Trust has teamed up with Time to Change to help end mental health discrimination and stigma. This is something that Wolverhampton Wanderers fully supports and to show this support I will be presenting a pledge to Sue at half time today.”
Club Manager Mick McCarthy urged Wolves fans to get behind the campaign, saying: “Today’s game has been highlighted as an awareness day to help challenge mental health discrimination and stigma. As you can see this is something I fully support and I hope that you too can lend your support to this campaign.”
Wolves Community Trust are running a project under our Imagine Your Goals scheme to involve people with mental health problems in football, and raise awareness of mental illness among Wolves fans and the wider community. The ‘Head for Health’ project is encouraging players, staff and fans alike to pledge to help end mental health prejudice and get talking about mental health issues.
