Who are Time to Change County Durham?
We are a social movement aiming to change the way people think and act about mental health in County Durham.
Time to Change County Durham is hosted by Investing in Children, a children and young people’s right’s organisation. Investing in Children hosts the Hub on behalf of the Mental Health Partnership Board and in partnership with County Durham’s mental health anti-stigma and discrimination campaign group, Stamp It Out.
Stamp It Out is a partnership project led by lived experience which involves organisations and services from across the county, with a focus of reducing stigma and discrimination towards people who experience mental health problems in County Durham. It does this by raising awareness amongst the general public within communities, the workplace and other settings.
How does Time to Change County Durham work?
Our amazing campaigners work across community, workplace and education settings and are developing a toolkit of resources for challenging mental health stigma and discrimination. Existing resources include quizzes, artwork, coasters and videos of people with lived experience, all of which are used as conversation starters within schools, community settings and the workplace.
As a Time to Change Hub we are particularly focusing on our marginalised and vulnerable communities as well as local priority groups within our County. County Durham is a large area with a diverse population and we are committed to ensuring our social movement reaches as many individuals and groups from within our different communities as possible.
How can I get involved?
There are lots of ways you can get involved in the Hub’s work, including:
- signing up as a Time To Change Champion
- setting up new campaign groups in different communities within our County
- linking in with specific targeted group (eg. children and young people)
- working with employers
- applying for a small grant to deliver an activity or event through the Champions Fund.
