Who are Time to Change Sunderland?
Washington Mind is coordinating a Time to Change Hub, hosted by Sunderland City Council and funded by Public Health. The Hub covers Sunderland, Washington and the Coalfields.
The Hub is a partnership between people with their own lived experience of mental health problems (Champions), representatives from health and wellbeing boards, local authorities and mental health and voluntary sector organisations. We’re working together to change the way people think and act about mental health.
Sunderland’s Hub partners include:
- Gentoo
- Grace House
- City hospitals
- Sunderland People First
- University of Sunderland
- IMPACT North East
How does Time to Change Sunderland work?
Our main focus is to work together to campaign against mental health stigma and to support schools, workplaces and communities to take action.
Improving the health and wellbeing of local communities as well as tackling stigma and discrimination is a strategic priority for all our partners; becoming a Time to Change Hub gives us the opportunity to achieve this.
Time to Change Hub partners demonstrate our commitment to:
- Putting people with personal experience of mental health problems at the heart of our work
- Embedding anti-stigma and discrimination work locally in schools, workplaces and other community settings
- Proactively campaigning to improve people’s attitudes and behaviours towards mental health
How can I get involved?
Any members of the community are welcome to get involved with the Sunderland Hub, whether you are an individual who would like to become a Champion or an organisation who would like to work with us to sign the Employer Pledge. There is a range of training, support and resources to help you.
