My name is Gavin and I experience anxietyGavin's blog

Anxiety affects me every day and can be life limiting in social situations, work, family life and relationships and sometimes people think I’m fickle because ill change plans, duck out of things or leave events early, but it’s just my anxiety making me over-arrange or worry about what might or might not happen.

My greatest source of support are my core group of friends, the ‘noisy lot’, they just get me and don’t question when I have a wobble and need some time or a chat over dinner and I’m learning to open up to them and my family more.

My hope for the future is that more people, organisations, groups and society will understand mental health problems and treat people who experience them with the respect and empathy that they deserve.

I’m taking 5 on Time to Talk Day to talk about mental health because asking how someone is doing or opening up to someone can be really beneficial and helps to start a wider conversation.

This blog is part of the Time to Talk Day 2015 #Take5ToBlog initiative.
